Lia Angelini
Lia Angelini is a contributing writer at Suite 101 and is a licensed, practicing massage therapist in the snowy state of Maine where she lives with her husband and fluffy Siberian Husky named Cinnamon. She has been practicing massage therapy since 1998 and loves the healing power and effective nature of this gentle profession. Lia studied massage therapy at the Utah College of Massage Therapy and has practiced at several venues including chiropractic centers, spa settings, salons, dance studios and in private practice. Her specialties include relaxing Swedish Massage, Trigger Point Therapy, energy work and the ability to listen to, and effectively address, her clients individual needs.
Lia's first love is writing. She studied Creative Writing at the University of Connecticut where she received a BA in English, followed by a stint as the Opinion's Editor for the Americorps publication at the Southeast Campus where she served as a year-long volunteer in 1997. Lia has been an avid reader since she learned her ABC's and has been writing ever since. Lia's first novel, Lost Along the Amazon was written in the 5th grade, received an A, but has yet to be published, although she is hopeful that someday it will! Meanwhile, Lia continues to write daily about massage therapy, the healing arts, nature, animals and small business ownership, as well as working on her many novels.
A zest for life and a love of writing, hiking, travel, books and music drive Lia in all of her endeavors. She never feels more happy than while sitting on the beach, listening to music, reading a book and spending the day with the people that matter to her the most. Lia admires the women who have paved the way for her in business, writing and living as an equal. One of her favorite quotes, spoken by Mahatma Gandhi, drives her actions every day; "You must be the change you wish to see in the world."
